I currently hold the position of Professor in the Department of English at National Chengchi University, Taiwan. I received my PhD in Linguistics from National Taiwan University, after earning a B.Ed. (Hons) in Secondary Education and English Language Teaching from the University of Exeter, England.
I have the honor of serving as the 13th President of the Linguistic Society of Taiwan. I am also the Editor-in-Chief of the Taiwan Journal of TESOL (ESCI; Scopus) for the term August 1, 2025 – July 31, 2027. Additionally, I serve as Associate Editor of both the International Review of Pragmatics (ESCI; Scopus) and TESOL Communications, and am a member of the Editorial Board of Applied Corpus Linguistics (Scopus). I represent Taiwan in the Comité International Permanent des Linguistes (CIPL) General Assembly for the 2024–2028 term. I am also the Newsletter Editor on the Executive Committee of the Association for Researching and Applying Metaphor (RaAM).
From February 1, 2024, I served as Director of the EMI Resource Center, and from December 25, 2024, also took on the role of Associate Executive Director of the Bilingual Education and Multicultural Promotion Office at my university. My term in these roles concluded on July 31, 2025. Additionally, from February 2022 to January 2024, I had the opportunity to serve as Chairperson of the department.
Throughout my career, I have conducted research and published extensively on a variety of subjects, including corpus linguistics, near-synonym analysis, and most recently, an investigation into language use on social media using a corpus-based approach. At my university, I lead a dynamic and dedicated research team specializing in corpus-based research.
It's a journey of self-discovery.
